Kingdom Hearts III: A release date theory
I’m
a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and I’m super excited for the third entry
(technically the eighth game of the series). However, there hasn’t been an
official release date yet. The first game came out in 2002 for the PS2, and its
10th anniversary was in 2012 which was celebrated by the release of Kingdom
Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS.
Now here’s where my theory
comes into play. Square Enix, the publisher of the series has not released an
official release date and it would make sense to me if it came out in 2017
because it would coincide with the 15th anniversary of the series as a whole. I
could be wrong and it could be scheduled for 2016, but I feel that the
anniversary factor has a huge chance that it might come out then to celebrate this
franchise with the finale of what Tetsuya Nomura (Director of the series) has
stated that this will be the end of the Xehanort Saga. It makes sense to me
that they would do this to commemorate this franchise to celebrate its finale
of the Xehanort arc and make it a big event for the year, franchises history
and its anniversary. It has had a huge mark on gaming history (and my
childhood), but in my opinion has had one of the best video game soundtracks in
a series as a whole. It has converted me to be a fan to Yoko Shimoura the
composer of the game’s music.
If you haven’t played the series, you should pick
up the HD collections on the PS3 they both go for $20 with the first one being
slightly dated, but still enjoyable. If you have no interest in the series you
should at least give the music a shot, the series has a complicated storyline,
but the music is superb and is definitely one of the things I enjoy most along
with its very fun and interactive combat. This theory maybe wrong in the long
run, but only time will tell if I was right or wrong.
